I love to give myself manicures. Up until recently I would just paint my nails one color with maybe one finger on each hand a different color. Or paint each nail a different color, which is called a simple skittles manicure. Recently I have been playing around with tape manicures. I did one today with Avon's Nailwear Pro+ nail polishes. I love Avon nail polishes because it comes in so many different colors, it is very affordable compared to other brands and it is a quality product. What I mean when I say "quality product" is that unlike most nail polishes it is long lasting and does not chip. Also, unlike most nail polish brands, you can have it for a long time and it does not goop up after it ages. You know what I'm talking about right? That blob/goopy mess that some nail polishes have after they sit for awhile. It's fast drying - 3 minutes (plus I have a tip for you that can cut that down to just 1 minute. After your nails are painted but still wet, you can spray a light coat of cooking spray to help them dry faster. The grease acts as a waxy type coating for your nails. I know this works because I personally use this method and it is amazing. NOTE: If you decide to try this tip with cooking spray, know that it will not be an instant dry, but it will cut the time down to 1 minute. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly when finished!)
Moving on!
Tape Manicure:
First you want to clean your nails with nail polish remover - even if you don't have polish on and just have bare nails. You want to do this because nail polish will remove any dirt, debris, and oil on your nails and fingertips.
Next you will need to cut & file your nails to your liking. I usually wear mine rounded. But I do love the square look too. To file I use a 6 sided nail file, it's very convenient and it looks professional when you are all done filing and buffing. Avon sells an amazing 6 sided nail file for only $2.99, click here to view!
When you are done filing be sure to wash your hands to remove any nail dust you might have created while filing. While your hands are still damp, push down cuticles. It is easier to do when they are damp.
Next you want to choose a good base coat. I choose Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Jade, you can find it by clicking here.
Paint your nails and let them dry. (Don't forget about the cooking spray tip!)
When your nails are dry, cut a piece of tape (not big) and place it where desired. I chose to do one finger a simple french manicure style and one finger a simple vertical line with a splash. (See picture below)
After you have placed the tape where you want it, choose a top coat. I choose Avon's Nailwear Pro+ in Midnight Plum. I just love the way the Jade and Midnight Plum colors contrasted against each other.
Paint the exposed part of your nail to create some designs! (See picture below)
Peel off the paint immediately after painting on your design. It will stick and peel off the base coat of nail polish if you leave it on for longer than 30 seconds.
You can use a clear coat for a nice glossy shine, but if you are using Avon's Nailwear Pro+, it already has a very nice shiny, glossy, sleek finish!
I know that my designs are not the greatest, but I just started playing around with the tape manicures. I will keep trying! Practice makes perfect! But, aside from my amateur tape manicure - Look at that shine Avon Nailwear Pro+ gives my nails!

Graffiti Nails!
While playing around with manicure ideas we accidentally found something amazing! We're calling it "Graffiti Nails"
*You need:
-A sponge (new, about .98 cents at Walmart)
-2-3 Abstract, bright nail polish colors
-A piece of white (we suggest printer) paper
-A black or white base coat. White works best for blues, greens and purples. Black works best with oranges, yellows and reds. We chose white.
*Directions: Cut your sponge into small pieces to fit your nail size.
-Use the "brillo" (or "rough") side of the sponge.
-Choose contrasting colors that will stand out against each other. We chose orange, blue and pink on a white base coat.
-Flatten out a piece of thick paper (again we suggest printer paper) on a smooth surface.
-Pour a little of each color onto the paper to where they are just barely touching. (See picture below)
-Paint on your base coat. (See below)
-After your base coat is dry VERY LIGHTLY dip your sponge into the colors so that all the colors get on the sponge. (See below)
-Lightly press the sponge onto the nail and cover to your liking.
*For a full on bold 2 tone look, use the spongy side of the sponge and dip it in 2 colors and press it on your nail. (See below)
-*Or for a simple, easy, QUICK (I mean quick this dries super fast) leave your nail bare with no base coat and dip the brillo side of the sponge in the colors and press on bare nail. (See below)

Forgive the orange smudge, we do touch ups with cotton swabs and polish remover but I forgot before I snapped the photo lol. |

DIY Jewelry hanger!
DIY jewelry hanger! I made this 2 weeks ago and thought I'd share it with y'all! It's super easy and fun...and it gives you a spot to hang all your necklaces. This is a super cute idea for a little girl too!
-YOU NEED:
-Cardboard (size is up to you)
-small squares of plastic
-Glue
-Colored duct tape ($3.00 at walmart)
-Tacks (.99 cents at walmart)
-Old magazines to cute cute things out of
-Old fabric (optional)
*First cut your cardboard into the size that you want*
We used a box that a Christmas gift came in (good way to recycle that!)
*Cut some small pieces of plastic*
We used butter bowl lids.
*On those pieces of plastic, cover it with the colored tape or glue some fabric to it for a cute look*
*Color and decorate the big piece of cardboard as you please*
We covered part of ours with colored tape and part with fabric, then we glued some cute magazine clippings to it, we found the mustache and glasses in Popular Science!
*Glue the decorated plastic pieces to the big piece of cardboard*
*Stick in the tacks and use them to hang your necklaces*!
